Storm & Hail Damage — Insurance Claims

Free inspectionClaim documentation done adjuster-grade

A supercell storm wall rolling over open Texas prairie toward a lone farmhouse

Here's what most homeowners don't know: your carrier's adjuster spends maybe twenty minutes on your roof, and what they write in that twenty minutes decides your claim. Dale Hutchins spent nine years writing those reports for an insurance carrier before he crossed to the roofing side in 2012. He knows what a legitimate hail claim looks like on paper — and what gets one denied.

So we document like adjusters. Chalked test squares on every slope. Photographed strikes with a measurement reference in frame. Line items written in the same estimating format your carrier's software uses, so there's no translation argument about what a drip edge costs. When your adjuster comes out, we're standing on the roof with them, pointing at the same evidence.

And we'll tell you the truth going in: if your roof took cosmetic hits but doesn't have functional damage, we'll say that too, in writing. Filing a claim that gets denied does you no good. Evidence and options — that's the whole pitch.

Who this is for

Anyone whose neighborhood caught hail in the last twelve months, anyone with an adjuster visit scheduled, or anyone whose claim came back short and wants a second opinion on the paperwork.

Storm & Hail Claims — asked and answered

Will filing a hail claim raise my premium?

In Texas, carriers can't surcharge you individually for a single weather claim — hail is an 'act of God' loss. Rates in hail-prone ZIP codes rise across the board whether you file or not. What actually costs you money is an unrepaired roof that fails in year three, after your filing window has closed.

How long do I have to file after a storm?

Most Texas policies give you one year from the date of loss, and some have tightened language beyond that. If your area caught hail last spring, the clock is already running. A free inspection now at least timestamps the damage while you decide.

My claim was denied. Is that final?

No. Denials get reversed with better evidence — that's most of what supplements and re-inspections are. We review the adjuster's report line by line against our own documentation, and if the denial is legitimate, we'll tell you that instead of dragging you through a fight you'll lose.

Can you 'cover' or waive my deductible?

No — and walk away from anyone who says yes. Texas law (HB 2102, since 2019) makes deductible waiving a criminal offense for the contractor and can void your claim. We'll structure legitimate payment options, but the deductible is yours by law.
